Long time no post. Did you miss me?
Owen's been attempting to read lately. More precisely, whenever he flips through his books, he does his best to recite the text from memory. (In actuality, he can only identify the letters A, B, H, O and M with any consistency. "H" is a particular favorite, because Owen loves cars and we drive a couple of beat-up Hondas. He can also identify Toyotas and Audis.)
Our little reader has renamed a few of his favorite books for ease of reference. "The Hungry Little Caterpillar" has become "Buf-Fly Book." "The Carrot Seed" is often referred to by its actual title, but it's also known as "Li'l Boy" after the protagonist. One of Owen's books has been renamed "Ice Keem" because it contains a picture of one of Owen's favorite desserts.
Owen loves his books, and has begun applying what he's learned to real life. Today, when he returned to our house from an afternoon stroll with my parents, our son tried to blow down the front door, just like the wolf in the "Three Little Pigs."
